Chanreashekar,

I believe that you want to use an FTP mailbox, not a File System mailbox.
What you described sounds like you want to drop the file out to a folder and
have your own application pick it up and transfer the file. This could work,
but could be missing out on the reliability, logging, and automation
features built into Gentran. I have found the Gentran FTP application to be
robust and reliable.

You need to add FTP as a device to the device pool and then you can select
it as a transport option. Gentran has sample scripts that you can then
customize.

The Gentran FTP facility logs every byte of the dialog between the machines
and handles retries as well. It can keep a specified amount of log history.

Look at properties of the bottom icon in the Mailbox application. There are
advanced options in there. I think that is where you add FTP to the device
pool.

Chandrashekar,

Our Trading Partners FTP EDI files to our site and vice versa. We have not
experienced such problems.

Check if you have the correct ID and Password to log into your trading
partner's FTP site. Also have your TP look into their FTP site to see if
they are busy running some task that times you out.

Good Luck.
