the American Coders web site. For more information and to download a
free version visit http://www.OpenBusinessObjects.com

OBOE translates between several Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
document formats and EDI/XML files. The package is targeted at legacy
EDI users who want to integrate their systems with the Internet quickly
and easily using standards based technology.
The OBOE engine is available with an Open Source license.

Release 2.5.0 Sept. 6, 2001

Major changes to classes and methods.

New logic added to TransactionSetFactory class so that applications
can use partner specific XML Rules files. The rules files can be
segregated to unique directories, under the base xmlPath directory, to
specify files by Version, Receiving Party ID, Sending Party Id and
Test/Production Indicator.

Added new EDI tokenizer class. ReaderTokenizer, subclassed in
Tokenizer, is used to parse java.io.Reader objects. This class was
written to reduce the dependency to use the String class to contain EDI
objects. This dependency required large amounts of system resource for
very large EDI documents. SEE FILE ConversionNotes.txt FOR FURTHER
INFORMATION.

    Added EnvelopeFactory, TemplateEnvelope and TemplateFunctionalGroup.
Using these classes along with the new envelopeRules.dtd and an
envelopes rule XML file all EDI objects can be defined through XML
files.

Added the envelope.xsd (schema) file to package. This schema is be
used by both the TransactionSet parser and the Envelope parser
    .
oboe.properties file can now be added to the classpath. The package
will find the oboe.properties if the file is in a directory, jar file or
zip file specified in the classpath environment variable.

In the Extended Edition - IDList node can be defined within the
DataElement node without using the IDListFile attribute. This is useful
for ID dataelements that only use a couple of IDList objects.

 New classes.

Added FTPClient to allow FTP transmission from applications programs.
This class is a copy of the Linlyn FTP Java program by Robert Lynch,
Peter van der Linden.
