Thank you for posting this.    A poster on a Usenet newsgroup that I frequent wrote something that I made into a signature file for my Usenet posts -- not as eloquent as Pitts, but it echoes the same sentiment:
 
"The Gulf War put an immediate halt to terrorism against Americans; as that
lesson fades, terrorism has crept up again. It might be time to remind the
world what we can do when we're really, really pissed off. "
