I would think an INTERNAL comparison - developed using your stated 
expertise -  would be far more useful to him, since you will be able to 
relate features, benefits, limitations and restrictions to the client's 
specific environment.

Oh, yes, one other little thing.... such matrices should be developed not 
based on all the features, benefits, etc of various products... they should 
be developed based on the end-user requirements, checking off which products 
can meet each application requirement.

Ok,  two other things.... I don't believe I've ever seen a matrix NOT 
developed based on user requirements....and I've been doing this kind of 
thing for twenty-five+ years now.
