Hmmm....

Why is it that nobody has suggested a really obvious concept...?

In the 810 Invoice standard, you also have the N9 loop with a MSG segment. The
MSG segment is 264 characters long.

Within the N9 segment and the Reference ID Qualifier, I'm pretty sure you can
find SOME kind of ID for the State of California or similar. With at least700
possible codes, you're bound to find SOME kind of data qualifier - even if it's
just "RGI - Regulatory Guideline Identifier with the regulation in the next
element.

Sort of like this:

N9*Qualifier (3 chars)*Ref Identification (30 Chars)*Freeform text (45
characters)*date*time*time code*ref id*
MSG*264 characters of message text*Printer Code (2 chars)*number (generic 9
characters)

As for a "trading partner by trading partner" scenario, you may not want to go
that route - depending on how many TPs you have AND how many are impacted by
the regulation AND how many different places that they would prefer it. Some
MAY want it in the PID or the SAC or any of the other suggestions.

But, if it is, as was mentioned, a CYA moment, I think that the N9 and MSG
segments would be your best bet and far easier to map. And it would cause the
least amount of drama on the TPs side.

Is anyone doing anything about the California law about sending a message in
the 810 about toxic material for certain models if they contain Formaldehyde.
Something like this:
"Supplied pursuant to the Sell Through Provision of the California Formaldehyde
ATCM"
I need to know where to map it and no one knows what I'm talking about.

Thank you
