It's obviously the way the *Ediff Control Panel* (the frame that open
when one presses ? in the first tiny frame) is launched in its own
frame. The first time it's small (<20 lines × <80 columns), according
to some specifications, on the second and next times it does *not*
use the dimensions from some default-frame-alist:
default-frame-alist is a variable defined in `C source code'.
Its value is
((tool-bar-lines . 0)
(menu-bar-lines . 1)
(nil . 1)
(nil)
(nil))
Not pressing ? in the first tiny Ediff frame does not change anything.
The reason must be in the NS specific code lines. An X11 client GNU
Emacs 23.0.0 behaves correctly, the Carbon version too.
