New in this release are:

- Major font handling upgrade: through use of Kenichi's new "font
backend"
framework, fontsets are now supported and general font handling is
improved.

- Menus now follow the standard Emacs 21+ arrangement.

- ns-option-modifier, ns-control-modifier, ns-function-modifier
customization
variables added (also supported in Preferences panel).

- Recent X11 colors such as "dark red" added to Emacs.clr (remove
   ~/Library/Colors/Emacs.clr to pick up).

A binary package is provided. All binaries in it are universal
EXCEPT the
main Emacs application. I could not produce this as I have no access
to an
Intel machine. If someone could make just the Emacs binary available
for
download somewhere, or better yet provide me with remote access to an
Intel
box, I will update the release.

ALSO, if the binary does NOT work on Panther please let me know.

Brief primer on font backend: this is enabled by default under OS X,
DISABLED
by default on GNUstep (thus no fontset support yet; debugging help is
welcome here).
You can also disable it manually on OS X by starting from command line
with "--disable-font-backend".

enjoy,
Adrian
