Hi,

Emacs.app version 9.0-rc2 is released. On OS X this release resolves
all known issues, save terminal-mode operation. (An undumped but not
a dumped emacs will work.)

Particular areas that were addressed include menus, Macintel
operation, rendering glitches, and keyboard handling.

Also, limited support for image backgrounds is available as a
side-effect of completed stipple implementation. Customize default
face stipple to desired image. (There's an offset issue though, to be
resolved later.)

This release owes thanks to Carsten Bormann, David M. Cooke, YAMAMOTO
Mitsuharu, Andrew Moore, and Seiji Zenitani.

A universal binary is provided.

If you compile yourself, please use the 'compile' script in nextstep.
This now supports shared-lisp installation:

./compile --shared-lisp <install_root, e.g. /usr/local>

As before, a "patch" distribution is available as a diff to emacs CVS
plus a tarball with the new files. IMPORTANT: if you use this to
compile yourself, you must first run "autoconf". The patch
distribution is mainly intended for developer inspection, not
compilation use. An additional caution, a large set of changes is
currently being absorbed into the emacs core relating to operation of
the same emacs process across multiple text terminals. Emacs.app
9.0-rc2 is based on code just before that merge hit the unicode
branch. If you try to patch/compile against code after that merge
(Pete Dyballa, this means you!), things will likely fail.

cheers,
Adrian
