Do you mean ``!ยดยด? This allows to apply an external command on the
file(s) chosen (marked).
IMO AUCTeX in Emacs is a better LaTeX environment. Though I prefer to
use TeXShop as the PDF viewer. AUCTeX, and the ability to display
math in Emacs in the LaTeX text buffer, is activated via
(require 'tex-site)
(load "preview-latex.el" nil t t)
It has its own manual and bug report facility + excessive customisation.
