My conjecture wold be to try the above option, specifying the path to  
the executable "Emacs" that's inside the Emacs.app package. I would  
think that the other options would then be figured relative to the  
specified emacs.

This is just a conjecture, and I don't think there's immediate risk in  
it, except scattering some AucTeX files around. This is not from  
experience. So be careful.

I wonder why mine worked w/o options. I installed mine under Tiger; if  
you are under Leopard, maybe it's different somehow?
