        I'd have to disagree with this.. there are many reasons why,
but again just from the point of view of 'initial effort', no matter
what you might be writing, unless you are really comfortable with
directly using evas+edje+ecore, it may be a difficult way to start,
wheras many are likely far more comfortable with a more traditional
"gui-toolkit" approach, its concepts, etc.

        Furthermore, and this was something that was on my mind
from the start, if indeed the e-toolkits are well designed enough
that they can allow you to override theming of built-in stuff,
(as well as create custom widgets+theme), then it'll be easier
to slowly work the app into further edje-based customization
as the writer becomes more familiar with things.

        Eventually, more and more inovative 'mixes' will emerge,
but I think you and Simon may be a bit too familiar with edje&things,
and forget that not everyone else is similarly so. :)

        Well, that was one of the things I'd hoped to see further
discussion on by the toolkit authors.. there are many interesting
aspects that can be explored here, both at the toolkit level and
above&below that.
