Hmm, I might be a bit overdosing in caffeine right now, but from what I
understood this was to be done prior to the release of E17, and the move to
git will be after this earth-shattering event.

I asked about how it will be done because I see two different issues here:

1) Shuffling of directories will involve major work in autotools;
2) Moving to git will require major work on the server side (trying to keep
history somewhat sane, changing the scripts that deal with devs,
commit-list, gerrit, etc.)
