Jeff, I am familiar enough with E - though not with all the current
developments... :)
The terms are flexible and I use them in generic ways to describe the
basic concepts...
Hopefully, over many emails, things become clearer for everyone.
Distributable "shell-theming" is more than just having good edje
themes for
whatever widgetry, or more E modules. Nor is the current method of E
profiles
sufficient for it (unless you restrict this to mean distro provided only).
People will not write more E themes and more modules just because...
they need
something that inspires them to make that effort and involvement. And
the best way
to inspire them to do that is to give them a relatively simple means to
create cool
things that others can use.
Shell-theming is one such means - it's not as intensive as writing a
full E theme
and it allows them to make and share cool looking 'environments'. Once
something
like that is in place, then more people join in, more edje themes are
written (for
whatever use), more modules are written, etc.
That is its basic 'function' as far as E itself is concerned - it
generates interest
by enabling people to create and share, in a relatively simple way,
really cool
eye-candy. :)
