Well, Apple stores meta data in a file, that way in theory a file can go to
a PC and back to a mac, and the file icons and such will be maintained.  If
you use stuffit to unstuff a apple .zip file, you just lose that, not big
deal you can re-associate it easily.  It nothing really new, just a added
feature, that if not understood by a app, will gracefully be ignored.
