This probable isn't your issue, but just in case.
Sometimes when 
I haven't
restarted the computer for a long time, and try
to sync, I get 
the same
thing - the connection is never able to be made.
If I restart, 
everything's
fine. I have no idea what causes this, but it has
happened 
several time, and
is always fixed by a restart.
