I kept some of the information on my drive. Here is what I have for Snc
Services:

1) Can I sync my messages?
No. Because Entourage stores the info in a database you cannot sync one
database with another without rewriting the entire database. What you
choose to do, depends on how often you feel the need to update. See Sync
Database for options.

2) I lost my Home and Work calendars in iCal?
This issue has been discussed on an Apple forum.
<http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1286104#1286104>
Deleting these files should restore your default iCal calendars:
~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.plist

and contents of

~\library\application suport\iCal

3) My Entourage calendar is showing in iCal, but the data does not show
up.
Try toggling "Week" and "Month" buttons in iCal.

4) How do I reset sync services and start fresh?

(Warning this erases data!!!)
1. Turn OFF all sync services in Entourage preferences
2. Quit ALL Office applications (including Daemon)
3. Quit Safari, Address Book & iCal and all applications synching
through .Mac (Transmit, Yojimbo...)
4. Use Activity Monitor to quit SyncServices
5. Delete the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/

Optionally: if you want to replace all data in the system Address book
and iCal with Entourage data, delete all iCal & Address Book Data Files:
~/Application Support/iCal/*
~/Application Support/AddressBook/*
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/*
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/*
7. Open the .Mac System preferences and make sure .Mac synching is
enabled
8. Restart all applications that sync to .Mac (Safari, Address Book,
iCal, etc.... and Entourage).
9. Turn ON Sync Services in Entourage preferences.

5) Is there a way to bring iCal calendar and events to Entourage
Calendar? I noticed iCal has a calendar called Entourage with the
events. Is there a way to make it the other way around using Sync
Services iCal to Entourage?
Even though Entourage supports multiple calendars and numerous
categories, iCal only supports multiple calendars and does not
understand categories. Because of this limitation, Entourage cannot sync
categories with iCal and will sync the default calendar to a calendar
called "Entourage" in iCal. In order for your iCal entries to show up in
Entourage, they have to be in the "Entourage" calendar in iCal. Try
assigning one of your entries in iCal to it, and you should see it show
up in Entourage as well. More info

6) If I turn on iCal sync on Entourage, and choose to Replace iCal, it
will give me an error related to Time Zone. My time zones are the same
at OSX and Entourage)

In the iCal preferences, make sure the "Use time zones" option is
enabled.

7) How does SyncServices work with Palm?
MVP Corentin Cras-Méneur reports.... You basically have two options for
Palm synching now:
- use the regular Entourage conduit with Palm Desktop or The Missing
Sync as you did before.

- use SyncServices with The Missing Sync 5.1b. That's the option I
chose. You have to disable the Entourage conduit and use the MarkSpace
conduits for calendar, address book and notes. It works remarkably well
for me and supports Tasks synching.

8) Does SyncServices support categories?
No.
Michel Bintener reports this work around:
iSync can filter contacts if they are in a group inside Address Book. So
use the Sync Services to synchronize your Entourage addresses with
Address Book, then create a new group in Address Book (call it "Sync" if
you like) and drag the contacts you'd like to have on your phone in
there. In iSync, you should normally have the option to synchronize a
particular group only with your phone, which should do the job. Of
course, as I've said, this is not the ideal solution, as it requires you
to do some extra work, but nevertheless, it *should* work.
I have read that I could put a name e.g. "private" in the comment field
of any contact, then use the intelligent group feature of address book
to create a new group.

MVP Corentin Cras-Méneur reports....I had a similar problem with
Exchange (sync doesn't sync categories there either) and ended up using
an AppleScript to write Entourage categories to the custom field 8. This
custom field doesn't not appear in the System Address Book, so at this
point, the script in question is useless to you, but the original script
can easily be modified for anything you'd want. If you have nothing else
in the Notes, you could write the categories to notes instead (not an
option for me - I would need to write a parser to separate categories
informations and the rest of my notes). The scripts I used are available
here: http://www.cortig.net/wordpress/?p=73

9) Does SyncServices only work with the Entourage Calendar?
As mentioned previously in this FAQ, Entourage supports multiple
calendars and multiple categories. iCal only supports multiple calendars
and has no equivalent for categories at this point. Entourage only syncs
*one* calendar and matches it one-to-one to a calendar in iCal (called
Entourage). In order to see events created in iCal in Entourage, you'll
have to assign these iCal events to the "Entourage" calendar that shows
up in iCal itself.

10) How do you set up Entourage to sync directly with Sony Ericsson
P910?

If you have Tiger, Entourage 2004 will now sync to the same database the
System Address Book and iCal use. Therefore, if you sync your phone
through iSync, it should sync with that common database now.

Just make sure you set the preferences in Entourage to sync to
SyncServices.

11) I don't use Address Book and iCal though, is there anyway to bypass
this?
You don't have to use Address Book or iCal--it just appears in iSync as
if they're coming from Address Book or iCal when they're indeed coming
from the Sync Services database.

12) Can you sync Tasks?
Task synching are indeed supported. Apple just doesn't separate from
tasks (todos) and events within their Sync Service-related dialogs and
UI. MS made the decision to match Apple's design within our Sync
Services implementation. You'll notice the second check box in the
Entourage Sync Services preference pane reads "Synchronize events and
*tasks* with iCal and .Mac".
The Missing Sync 5.1b can actually pull these tasks from the SyncService
database to sync with a Palms handheld for instance.

Generally, as Entourage hooks into iSync, any device listed on the
following page should work:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html

13) Is there a reason why the SYNC preference item is not showing up in
the Entourage preference pane?

Make sure that machine is running on 10.4.3 or newer. There were changes
in 10.4.3 that were necessary in order for Entourage to support synching
events with iCal, so anything prior to 10.4.3 won't show the preferences
pane.

Also, insure there's a file called "Microsoft Sync Services" in the
Office folder.

14. With the 11.2.3 update you can synchronize Entourage Notes with
dotMac. I presumed from there I could get them to synchronize to an
iPod. I don't see how though.
MVP, Paul Berkowitz explains....
There's no Entourage on your iPod, and no Apple app which does Notes or
an equivalent. The Entourage Notes will only display in Entourage.
SyncServices has a schema for them (created by Entourage) and .Mac will
faithfully store them and pass them on to SyncServices on your other
computer, from where Entourage on that computer syncs and displays them.
If some other app ever accesses SyncService's "Entourage Note" schema,
you'd be able to get them there too. (I don't suppose you'd need
anything from Microsoft to do that - SyncServices schemas must be
exposed.) If some other Apple app (TextEdit, maybe?) ever is made to
convert these notes to text documents and is also brought into iPods by
Apple, then you might get them. Perhaps you could send a request to
Missing Sync, if you have it, to see if they could get their conduits to
sync to something functioning on an iPod. I suspect they could do it for
Palms (which can upload apps such Missing Sync's MemoPad) but not for
iPods. And that's presuming such an app could access Entourage Notes in
the first place.
