Mr. Tea was joking. Did you see the " ;-) " in his message? (He might have found the "betwixt and between" of John Quinn a bit excessive, or else was just reminding us that repairing permissions in X is like the old "rebuild the desktop" maintenance routine in Classic: a sort of mindless mantra that often helps and can't hurt, so just do it.
