With the differential backup, you will grow a week's worth of transaction logs on your hard drive. You will need to make sure that you have enough disk space to accommodate for that, it could be gigabytes.

Sure, incrementals are a pain to restore from and I avoid them. Differentials on the other had, are not really a huge hassle in smaller situations, you need the backup first set and the latest set. I guess if the backup size spans several tapes it would be a hassle I would want to avoid in a crisis.
