Easy tiger, never said anything about relying on it and apologies if
that's what came across - just where there is a list of blocked
attachments.  From that one could deduce which ones to block...

BUT, the problem with letting OL block the files is two fold. 
A) They are still in the IS.
B) They can be accessed with OWA.

Relying  on OL to do your content blocking is a poor method. It should
be the last step, certainly NEVER the first. And since virtually any
Exchange based AV will do this for you, why not take advantage of such a
great feature?

What version of exchange/ outlook are you using?  If youre using exh2k
and outlook 2002 then most attachments are blocked by default - I'm not
sure about earlier versions of outlook. The blocked attachments are
referred as level one.  Have a look at Q290497
