My bad -- I had thought there were separate noteheads with ledger lines! And the dialogue won't let you change fonts, so you can't even make a special font.

Sorry!

There are some empty slots in the Maestro font, though, so you might be able to create just what you want, using a font editor.

I apologize for getting your hopes up, though.

I'll go back to sleep now.

David,
In the Symbol Selection dialogue, I cannot find any noteheads with ledger
lines - where are they?
However, in my case I wish to add the ledger line to a black breve!

Even though the 5th line is missing, it is still there as far as Finale
knows, and it won't put ledger lines until you are up above the location
of the 5th line, visible or not.

You can change the notehead for any such notes, using the MassMover
tool, then under the MassEdit menu, Change/Noteheads. Change the
notehead to one with a ledger line.

In Finale 2002

I have created a four-line stave using staff styles. However, when I

place

a note outside the stave, where the fifth line would be, no ledger line

is

created. Is there a better solution to this problem than creating a note
articulation and spending a lot of time lining it up?
