I use the TinkerToolSystem from Marcel Bresink, 
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/13662/tinkertool-system, to make the folders 
visible and invisible. This is one I have used several years so I have already 
paid for it. MacWorld Magazine also recommended using this application and I 
believe there may be others available as well.

There is definitely a Finale 2012 folder in the application support folder of 
the library at the first level. I have downloaded several earlier plug-ins and 
created a new folder to put into the plug-ins folder and named it JW Plug-ins. 
This is similar to the TGTools folder and the Patterson plug-in folder on my 
system. 

You will receive other recommendations from the list soon also, I believe. I 
also hope there is an easier and less expensive solution!
