For one, if you just parse the output of fink, there are many many 
information you can't gather this way. I.e. you only see the "tip of 
the iceberg".

Also, you add another layer of communication, which not only slows us 
down, but it also means that there is a lot of potential breakage 
possible, e.g. if the Fink output format changes.
