May I respectfully ask that changes of this size be discussed or st least be announced on fink-devel first? I can see that it was discussed on IRC, but even there it was said

So, let's see, just because *maybe* Apple will introduce a bug in their perl in next year's OSX, you change all Fink package descriptions now without asking or telling the maintainers? I don't get it. If you want to play with Tiger alpha now, then by all means change your local fink tree, but why impose this on all of us? And in the stable tree no less, while a bindist is being prepared?
As to "doesn't hurt": My melina package now installs 1490 *.bak files. Oops. Did you really think this through?
