Chris _ As far as I've seen this morning, there is no provision in  
the current gs for
using " --with-system-foo " for anything (not only in configure -- 
help, even hidden in the configure script)

but in practical terms we have to live with it _ safe for complaining  
loudly
upstream...
And they did go back to static libs _ and more...
The pkg consists only of 1 binary _no static libs, even in the bld-dir..
