Hi ! I also had problems like you describe. I've tried everything I could find on the .net about it but to no avail. Finally I gave up and are now using VS2005 for the data layer where I'm using strongly typed datasets and VS2008 for everything else.

I've used Visual Studio 2005 with FirebirdClient 2.0 for a long time. Today I've installed the new Visual Studio 2008 beta2. I've downloaded the Firebird DDEX prov. 2.0.2, and I 've installed it as followed the instructions in README.txt (gacutil, and after I've replaced the %PATH%, %Version%, etc.., AND "8.0" to "9.0" in the FirebirdDDEXProviderPackageLess32.reg file, and added it into the registry) I've started VS2008, created a new Windows Forms project, added a new DataSet,and tried to add a new TableAdapter, but there is no "Firebird Data Source" in the DataSources listbox... If I used just FbConnection, FbDataAdapter, etc..., these works perfectly, but TableAdapter (and adding new ConnectionString into the project Settings also) not. In VS2005, still everything works perfectly (also DDEX), as anytime in the last year, nothing has changed. So, please give me some advice, how could I use VS2008 as development environment with Firebird (with DDEX 'cause the project uses strong-typed datasets) ! Thank you ! Cs.
