I am looking for product recommendations and personal experiences with
VPN solutions that may apply to the following problem.

We have many remote users who need access to our internal network via
the Internet. They have various types of connections, e.g. dial-up,
cable modem, xDSL. They also use a mix of operating systems, Solaris,
Linux, Windows 9x/NT.

For this discussion, VPN implies that all traffic between the external
host and the private network travels over a secure connection between
the user's node and the VPN box. Please note we are looking for a
full VPN solution. Products like Secure Shell do not meet this
requirement.

One requirement is that the same solution work for ALL of the above
users. If the client side solution is software based, there must be
clients for Solaris 2.5.1 or greater and Windows 9x/NT. (It may be too
much to ask for a Linux client.) If the client side solution is
hardware based, it must support both ethernet and dial-up connections.

There are other features we will be evaluating. However, at the
moment I am just developing a list of products to review.

I would appreciate any recommendations from the list. I am especially
interested in personal experience, both pro and con, with these
products.

Please feel free to email me directly. I will post a summary of the
responses.
