You don't say what kind of tunnel you're looking for, there are VPN
tunneling solutions, IP tunneling solutions and solutions for tunneling
traffic over other protocols such as HTTP. You might want to do a search
of http://www.freshmeat.net/ for a list of tunneling software that meets
your particular criteria. FreeSwan is an IPSEC implementation that runs
on Linux, though the transform support is limited. The Linux kernel is
capable of tunneling IP over IP if you compile that option in, though it
doesn't provide any encryption. There are also (if you can stand it, I
can't) PPTP clients and servers available if I recall correctly. Lastly,
there are commercial VPN products which run on Linux such as that sold by
InfoExpress (I've not used it, so this isn't an endorsement.)
I'd expect the commercial products to be easy to install and well
documented, for everythign else, "easy to install" probably requires some
understanding to not create a wider security issue than the one you're
trying to solve.
