I use a cable modem and Alta Vista 98 tunnel and all except for not being
authenticated to the network at workAV98 works pretty good. I have a cable
modem which uses DHCP to give the MS Windows 9x pc(s) their ipaddress for
the "local" cablemodem's network. I then fire up AV and can access either a
AV server version 97 or 98 and I am not prompted to authenticate to the
network. I have tried many different recommended settings and
patches/upgrades on the client both OS and AV, without success. However
the last time I looked the product had changed hands again. Any help on
this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James Henry

Subject: Coming via a cable modem...
we have users that would like to connect in to our
site using their ISP's via cable modem. We currently
have Checkpoint's Secure-remote implementation in
place and we're happy with it... But I am curious what
others are using. Perhaps a small FW on the cable
modem and some type of VPN into the company...?
