Im not Wesley, but I do have a couple of GnatBoxes.
Ive scanned ours with nmap, and other than the open ports that we set, its
pretty much a black hole.

Default is allow all outbound, nothing inbound. If you define a mail
server it automatically opens port 25 to its email proxy. Other than that,
you have to open a tunnel for anything you want through.

We've been really happy with ours (the pay-for Pro version). Personally,
Id trust it alot more than anything running on top of the standard Windows
IP stack. As I recall, Wingate is proxy, while the Gnatbox is stateful
packet inspection, with the occasional proxy thrown in (like the
email).
