We have used it quite extensively on a customer's network (local sites, national sites, international sites) to give non-admin types admin privileges, w/o compromising the root account. They can run the backup software, shutdown/reboot the system, etc. As a result, the central admin group gets involved much less often when things happen at the site that require shutdowns (power interruption, holidays, etc.) When properly configured, it can save you a lot of headaches (and a lot of 3am calls, just to shutdown a server).
