yes, you didn't read the doc:)
Unlike in other OSes, in BSD, an interface may have many addresses,
so there is no need for xxx:0, xxx:1 hacks.
use the "alias" or the new "add" keyword with ifconfig
ifconfig ed0 10.1.1.0
ifconfig ef0 20.1.2.3 alias
or better
ifconfig ef0 add 20.1.2.3
