Hey Dave,

If this were a nail then I think you would have hit it square on the head.  
In fact I do have the alerts configured so that they will not pop up on me 
as they would invariably do so when I was doing some fast typing in email, 
etc. and the alert would pop up and take precedence. After I read your 
reply, I checked and found that I had about 12 alerts from today that had 
not been viewed or acknowledged yet.  Mostly the same old stuff (folks 
trying to hit port 111, 80, 21, etc.) but once I looked at them the symbol 
went away.  Guess I'll get some sleep now.  Thanks again for your help.
