Raptor does quite thorough protocol (application level) checks - which sometimes can 
lead to problems with nonconforming
mail servers (Lotus Notes is a good bet as toublemaker here).  But that thoroughness 
comes with a price: a small Sun server
(Ultra60) will be limited to well less than 10 Mbit/s when being the main internet 
gateway. It will croak but will serve a
stuffed 4Mbit/s line (100% use without dips for hours) wil all possible logging 
enabled.
