This message is from: Marsha Jo Hannah <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sunday, I got a demonstration of how Fjords instantly bond with other Fjords. The local carriage club had a playday at my neighbor's place, with some of the driving being on "tracks" that meandered thru my pastures. One of the club members rode another member's somewhat green Fjord mare, mostly for "time and mileage". All went reasonably well on the first part of the ride/drive---the mare obviously missed her pasture-mates, but was fairly willing to go along with the carriages and other ridden (non-Fjord) horses. Then, we got within sight of my barn. The mare saw my 2 Fjord geldings, who seemed quite pleased to see her, too. When the rest of us looped back toward the neighbor's, the mare gave her rider a BIG argument---she was planning on staying with her new Fjord buddies, period, paragraph! The rider finally dismounted and led the mare back until she was almost out of sight of my guys, before remounting. However, the mare had clearly "lost her sense of humor", so the rider headed back to the trailers, while the rest of us did more of the neighbor's trails.
Yeah, I've heard y'all talk about Fjords "recognizing" other Fjords; this is just the first time I've seen such an obvious example of it! Marsha Jo Hannah Murphy must have been a horseman-- [EMAIL PROTECTED] anything that can go wrong, will! 15 mi SW of Roseburg, Oregon
