Right now we are running on an Xbow MNAV which is unfortunately discontinued
after we purchased it. Their price at the time was in the $1700 range if I
recall correctly. Add a flight computer and a few other odds and ends and
you easily exceed the $2k threshold, just for the basic electronics. There
are a lot cheaper options out there, and a lot more expensive options. We
were shooting for the middle someplace and had some specific mission
requirements that made the openness of the MNAV very attractive. It would
be nice to find a capable IMU replacement for somewhere in that same ball
park ... there are a number of options out there, but nothing that has
really resonated with me. Well, I'd love to switch over to the Microbotics
MIDG-II, but that's nearly $7k each and doesn't include any of the servo
control or PPM signal decoding features of the MNAV, but it does give a nice
quality attitude and position estimate.
