Yes, that'll be a problem.

The default gcc toolchain on a linux box builds x86 binaries, but (usually) for 
an ELF based object format.

For a win32 target you need to build x86 binaries with what is basically a COFF 
object format, and some other odd bits and pieces, such that the default tools 
generally will not work. (Actually the compiler itself might be OK, but the 
linker stages and various support utils need to be quite different. Simplest to 
get a complete toolchain that knows how to build win32 binaries...)
