No, I do not have it (check for updates) selected in the prefs. It just takes a long 
time for me to
load it. I think the important part of the problem is, it seems like it is just 
sitting around waiting
to start, after the hourglasss come off, the computer is not doing anything, then it 
loads up 20
seconds later. WinAmp on the other hand as soon as the hourglass comes off which is 
about 1 second it
shows up right away. Mozilla (Netscape Open Source Browser) also takes a long time to 
load, almost as
long as FreeAmp though it just might seem shorter because I can hear the hard drive 
whirling away. Any
suggesstions guys?
