Actually the above error message was garbled by -j#, here's a more informative one:

Maybe this is why you have to place NO_WERROR and WERROR into make.conf
before building?

Ahh yes, I thought something was nagging me about the order of setting make.conf vars and buildworld in Roman's message :)
