I believe this may have been a side effect of perhaps all my ldap threads being utilized. I have increased the number of ldap threads and have adjusted the timeout values somewhat. The "files" module doesn't take much CPU time. It doesn't use locks. So there's no reason for it to block for long periods of time. That may be a side-effect of something else taking long amounts of time. Usually, this is SQL. Or, if you're putting hostnames in the "users" file, instead of numerical IP addresses... and your DNS server is down. The server won't be able to create the reply because it needs the IP address. It won't be able to create the IP address because DNS is down. Don't use hostnames. Or, fix DNS so that it works. Alan DeKok. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
