Dear Douglas,
Thank you. That helped. Following the earlier question, mri_annotation2label
using the aparc.annot file ( Desikan atlas) gives me 35 labels in one
hemisphere. Is there a list / look up table to know what each label is? So that
based on what it is I can merge/edit or remove the ones I do not need.

Thanks for answering my questions,
Madhura

you can use mri_annotation2label to convert the annotations to labels.
You can use mri_cor2label to convert a segmentation to a label (requires
you run it once for each label).
