Top posting means the thread has to be read from the bottom up (minor annoyance), but what's really bad is when a single thread continuously mixes top and bottom posting. Then you have chaos. One solution to a mixed order thread (as I did here) is just to snip everything except what you're replying to, but that leaves newcomers in the dark as to the rest of the context.
