It's a kernel module so you need to have the kernel headers installed to compile it: $ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) Then clone the source code of v4l2loopback and install it: $ git clone https://github.com/umlaeute/v4l2loopback $ cd v4l2loopback $ make && sudo make install should do the rest. To load the module, issue $ sudo modprobe v4l2loopback and /dev/video0 should be created.
