gEDA people in general, This e-mail is in the nature of a "well done!" for your gEDA work. I'm a hardware designer by training, and among other things I managed a design system for a university electronics design group for some 10 to 15 years. Following my retirement, I began to use the gEDA tools as the tool set for a consulting business I started. In the course of the past two years I have used gschem, PCB, gerbv, ngspice, and Icarus Verilog. All have been impressive pieces of work.
I would be lying if I didn't admit I initially missed the tremendous utility that existed with the commercial system I had managed, but the growth in gEDA tools has been impressive. Particularly, (while I haven't had an opportunity to try the new features yet) I want to thank DJ Delorie for his work in increasing the number of layers available in PCB. In the course of my work for the university, the largest board I ever had to do was a 14 in. by 14 in. VME board using 13 layers. While this was unusual, the earlier 8 layer limit on PCB was just that, a limitation, and to expand beyond that I view as a tremendous advance. Well, I could go on and on, but the bottom line is "GOOD WORK," these appear to me to be top quality tools and there ARE being used professionally.
