NeXT???? "Slapping" is usually (100%) a disaster, but a well designed system where the GUI and command line are designed to operate together can be the best way. From a software engineering viewpoint, it provides a way to enhance modularity, and the possibility of different interfaces for different people, while keeping the same core code. Most of the original NeXT applications were based on a GUI on top of a command line. Another example, which might comfirm your statement of "disaster", is that most GUI simulators are "slapping a gui on top of a command line". This includes Pspice and Multisim. Even Qucs, which is useless in command line mode, is a gui on top of a command line. _______________________________________________ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
