Thank you. I used http://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/releases/1.4_rc2/x86/i586/livecd/gentoo-grp-i586-1.4_rc2.iso and received: "File too large, please use ftp". Using ftp finally seems to work (still transfering).

I hope the project is in a better state than its mirrors ;-)
