Is baselayout >1.8.5.8. There are some bugs in the newer version. Try running depscan.sh to re-cache the init script dependencies. What version of alsa-drivers and alsa-utils? Maybe try alsactl restore instead of amixer. Remove amixer from local.start and alsasound script from boot runlevel and run it manually.
