I am using pppd to startup a dialup connection via my usb modem. Every now and then, I start pppd and nothing is happening, the modem won't dial but pppd is still running. Nothing is logged and I login or do 'su', unless I have root terminal left open, I am forced to reboot. Killing metalog helps.
Unfortunately I can't reproduce the situation reliably, my system is running fine otherwise, so I really don't think is a hardware problem of the computer. :-/ lo -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
