Ati Rage IIc is old Rage64 card :( and it don`t have any 3d acceleration in Linux You need at least Rage128 for 3d. If You want xv acceleration in xfree86 You need xfree-gatos drivers. Gatos works fine with Rage64 cards (my second card is Rage64 IIc+DVD) but gennto in this moment don`t have gatos for xfree 4.3 :(
sorry for wrapping: http://dri.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/ATIMach64? action=highlight&value=CategoryHardwareChipset
The links there describe the methods one would use to compile the dri driver for the mach64, which is not in the dri releases as of yet.
On the other hand, I'm using a radeon 7500 (mobility, actually) and it works great.
