Somehow something got broken. kdm seems to run ok, but all selections for the session selection result in a single console window at login. Typing startkde in the window starts kde, after which kde appears as before, except for the extra console window.
My .xsession-errors file contains: /usr/X11R6/bin/twm: another window manager is already running on screen 0? /usr/X11R6/bin/twm: unable to find any unmanaged screens Both .xinitrc and .xsession contain "startkde" Typing startx at a console login starts kde.
