No, I was not aware of win32codecs divx4linux until now, so I just emerged 
them.

Still no luck with mplayer, xine or vlc.

I match my settings for xine as seen in /etc/fstab
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0      /mnt/cdrom

(I tried both the first and 2nd entry) and get the following errors:
